We know that if the world does not act accordingly, countries like ours with low adaptive capacities have no choice but to brace for more devastating impacts. Our pride, Mount Kilimanjaro, is becoming bald due to the melting of glaciers.

Because global warming is a reality

The planet is warming by 0.2°c per decade due to human activity.

Because man is responsible

Human activities, and in particular the consumption of fossil fuels (oil, gas, coal), artificially increase the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, thereby accentuating global warming.

Because Tanzania is one of the countries most exposed to global warming

Tanzania is one of the East African countries which, despite contributing relatively little to global greenhouse gas emissions, is particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. However, Tanzania faces a number of challenges as a result of climate change, such as: rising sea levels, changes in rainfall patterns, deforestation and loss of biodiversity, and impacts on livelihoods.

Because the international community is committed to combating climate change, and most countries are taking steps to limit or reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

The Paris Agreement, adopted by 196 countries, is a historic commitment by the international community to limit global warming to 1.5° above pre-industrial levels. Most countries have defined long-term development strategies with low greenhouse gas emissions.

Because Tanzania has the right and the duty to take measures to limit greenhouse gas emissions on its territory.

The Sovereign Carbon Initiative aims to promote and develop programs with social, energy and environmental impacts, for the benefit of the country's sustainable economic development, and the protection of the most vulnerable populations exposed to the consequences of global warming.
